The Deer Park Corridor Urban Design Principles (PDF 680KB) have been prepared to establish a consistent message from Council and provide certainty to the design and delivery teams when negotiating appropriate outcomes on rail-related projects along the Deer Park Rail Corridor.
The urban design principles
- deliver holistic integrated redevelopments of station precincts
- create a ‘sense of place’ for the local community with a distinctive character specific to Brimbank
- design legible station precincts
- maximise economic development opportunities
- maximise community connectivity across the corridor
- integrate local and regional cycle connections
- engage with the community as part of the decision-making process
- create a sustainable corridor
- prioritise safety as a design consideration
- minimise physical, visual and acoustic amenity impacts
These principles guide the development of
- three at-grade level crossing removals
- two new stations, and
- the rail line “quadruplication” and electrification to Melton and Wyndham Vale
