About Solar Savers

Solar Savers is a local government program that helps residents electrify everything.

It makes it easier for you to introduce clean energy solutions to your home or business.

Solar Savers can help with:

  • Solar PV systems
  • batteries
  • heat pump hot water systems
  • split systems.

Brimbank City Council is a Solar Savers participant.

About split systems

Heating makes up 43% of energy costs in the average Victorian home. This makes it your biggest energy user and a good place to start making changes.

By switching to an energy efficient split system, you'll:

  • Save money on heating and cooling
  • make your home safer
  • enjoy more comfort.

About heat pump hot water systems

Heat pump hot water systems use 60-75% less electricity than conventional electric systems.

Why? They don't heat water directly with an element. Instead, they use electricity to run a heat pump that transfers heat to your water.

Benefits:

  • Water heats quickly and stays hot longer
  • built-in timer gives you more control
  • significantly lower energy bills.

What kind of solar system do you need?

The right solar PV system depends on your home or business' size, the direction it faces, and current and projected energy use.

Don't worry about figuring it all out alone. Solar Savers can connect you with trusted suppliers who will:

  • Help determine exactly what you need
  • estimate your cost savings
  • check if you qualify for rebates or interest-free loans.

How a solar system helps with energy and cost efficiency

A solar PV system gives you free energy from the sun.

To maximize savings:

  • Install a solar PV system. 12 months after installing a rooftop solar system, almost 73% of Solar Victoria customers save as much or more than expected on bills
  • Run electric appliances, like heat pumps and split systems, when your solar panels are generating power. The more you do this, the more you will save.

Many people start with solar, then go all-electric by switching from gas to electric for:

  • Heating and cooling
  • cooking
  • water heating.

Going all-electric with solar can save you thousands each year on energy bills.
